I have been coming to Hurghada to dive for many years and with The Blue O2 boats always coming in to the Marriott Hotel jetty I have developed a little tradition. Once we dock I take a walk a couple of K up the road to a small coffee shop for a tall glass of iced coffee. After a week of diving its good to stretch your legs on solid ground again even.
So Hivers this is the first time I’ve been back for a few years and I was a little worried it may have gone the way of many business in this town that relies so heavily on the tourists. The large hotels and big businesses have a good chance of riding out the covid storm but small family run enterprises suffer much more and a number of them have closed.
Well I walked up today and thankfully it was still there.
So a few refreshing iced coffees we’re in order.
The place is a little shabbier than usual with a few more scuffs in the chairs and rips in the cushions but I guess it’s priority’s and making savings where you can, but the coffee is a good as ever which is the important thing. So the tradition was maintained for another year.
