To be honest Hivers I’m quite a lazy person in the morning so banging in a Nespresso pod and pressing a button for a quick shot of coffee suits me perfectly.
But a friend recently bought me back some rather special coffee beans from Vietnam so I guess my morning coffee ritual is going to have to change for a bit. First thoughts opening the bag the coffee smells amazing and I really can’t wait to brew a cup.
They came with some instructions on the packet for brewing which is handy but to be honest I’m mostly going to ignore that because I have my preferred brew for the Aeropress. And it doesn’t smell like a cat litter tray BONUS.
The beans are a bit of a darker roast than I normally prefer but that should not be detrimental to the taste.
I guess it’s time to dig out the Kingrinder K6, I’ve not used it for some time and not as time consuming and boring grinding coffee as I remember.
It only took about 40 seconds to grind 18 grams which is enough for the Aeropress I guess more coffee in the French Press or Moka Pot will take a little longer.
First few mornings I’ll give brewing coffee in the Aeropress a go as it’s a relaxing way to brew as I recall it’s easy and the letting the brew stand for a few minuets tastes better and give me time to get my breakfast cereal ready.
As always as long as you don’t force the Aeropress to hard or fast the coffee is very well filtered and extracted coffee.
The brew is nice and clear and much better filtered than a french press and it’s quicker than a V60 filter which seems to take forever to do properly. So the Aeropress is a great way to brew fresh coffee.
So Hivers there is a lot of hype around weasel/Civet coffee. Ethically farmed coffee is about the same as battery egg farming and the weasels suffer in much the same way which is not great, living in a cage is not going to do any animal much good. Is the coffee a premium product that’s questionable taste wise it was much like any really dark roasted coffee a little bitter very caramel and chocolatey. I prefer lighter roasts that are a bit more floral and well lighter tasting. Would I go out of my way to buy civet coffee probably not there are single origin coffees out there that taste a lot better.
