Very productive trip to Majestic Wines in Totnes this morning with .
But this is a coffee post Hivers. For those that don’t know Totnes it’s one of South Devons more quirky towns. The long narrow uphill drag of the High Street is mostly odd independent Shops, cafes, bookshops a couple of pubs and galleries.
So after parking at the bottom of town, the question is where to stop for a quick coffee? There is a lot of choice from are one or two oldie worldly tea shops, not exactly the haunt of yobs like us and a couple corporate chain coffee shop but there are a few real independent coffee shops.
We liked the fresh clean look of Zappa’s about half way up the High street next to the old St Mary’s church, I have not been there before and I think it’s fairly new. It is totally vegan so no bacon sandwiches but don’t hold that against it.
Inside is as fresh and clean as outside vegan or not the cakes look scrummy but I’ve been told to lay of the biscuits so step away from the cakes Kevin.
And there are benches outside and seating in the small square and by the church so if you’re smoking or have a smelly old dog. So if your dog is whiffing like wet sheep or an old Parisian lavatory you still have somewhere to sit.
But inside the window seats are great for people watching.
But the coffee was awesome probably the best cappuccino I have had in years all their coffee is fair-trade and other stuff is locally sourced.
Certainly good enough to go back for seconds and they were just as good so it wasn’t a one hit wonder.. Im going to be buzzing for hours
So slow down and savour the second cup with a bit more people watching.
There you have it Hive coffee fans Zappa’s is a great place to drop in for a coffee if your in the quirky little market town of Totnes.
