Charlotte was having one of those days, she needed more coffee.
The idea of just another cup was not enough.
The idea of the perfect sized cup loomed before her and she sank into blissfull coffee heaven.
My Illustration "More Coffee" says a lot about my own coffee consumption at one point.
I love creating my black and white illustrations and the day I made this was another day in the studio with my blue willow cup, stained brown, and waiting for more of that deep brown elixer.
I have to admit I am now much more a tea drinker and in fact I know only have coffee for special times, maybe once a week or if I'm going out I'll stop at our local places, for that treat.
But, many a day I'd down multiple pots. However, the caffeine doesn't affect me. When I was growing up I always recalled the grownups having their coffee after supper. I couldn't wait to join in and by my teens, having coffee at night was normal for me, so it never served me at university as a means to pull an 'all nighter' as it often did my peers.
This piece also has another of my loves, the Willow pattern and tho my favorite is Blue willow:
Which I've made a version of:
Oddly enough I was checking today and I've only put the black version in my shop. It sells fairly well, but I need to address the other colors and get the Red (it's called pink really) and the Brown and Black up as well.
Pink Willow Pattern
My lady Pink:
lovely Brown (like coffee itself) :
And a color I'm going to start collecting soon, the Green:
But, the Willow pattern does indeed come in black It's called Midnight which I rather love.
When I'm making such illustrations I then have to lay them out in various ways to fit on products. Of course the Tee shirt is always a staple:
But I love making repeats for things like Bags and luggage.
Of course it'd be silly NOT to have it on things which can hold coffee like travel mugs
Anyway you slice it or drink it I should say, Coffee is the elixir of the Gods and as I'm typing up my post this morning I think it's going to be one of those 'special mornings'. I'm going to get the grinder out, grind up some lovely local roast coffee (we're lucky to have a local coffee bar that roasts in house, it's Heaven when you walk in) and have a cuppa on the beach.
Our local New Coffee bar with Roasting facilities here in Sandwich Massachusetts (not my photo)
It was exciting when they moved into an old building that had been sitting empty. It used to be an antique shop years back, I remember buying things there, but then they retired and the building languished, tried becoming a retail clothing spot then that also when on the wayside. Now, we're all excited to have this hip place.
It is an interesting counterpoint to our old New England Village which by the way has 2 tea rooms, one very English and antique shops. We're lucky to have this addition.
I hope you enjoyed my artwork inspired by my life-long love of coffee
and even tho it is now relegated to the 'special' rather than the daily drink, it almost holds more prominence as it usually means a special moment. I'm constantly having a pot of tea at the ready, but coffee comes at special times for me now.
I hope you find a moment in your day to indulge your passions, whether creative endeavor or a moment to sip that lovely deep brown elixir, coffee, and as always remember to stay creative.
