We visited the Museum of Making in Derby today that shows the area's manufacturing history.
Just inside the entrance towards the cafe area, there was an exploding Toyota Corolla Hybrid car suspended above people's heads. It's quite a statement piece but I didn't stand under it for too long!
After we looked around the museum we went to the River Cafe inside. The food is all locally sourced. My brother had a latte but I fancied something different, so I chose a turmeric oat latte made with steamed oat milk. The colour is always ... ahem ..... interesting.
I've made turmeric drinks myself but it's always nice for a professional to do it. I really enjoyed it. It's not a drink I could have every day because I'd want my caffeine shot, but it was a lovely warm, spicy drink on a cold, wet day. I had a headache, so turmeric and drugs do work!
To accompany our drinks we had roasted squash and bean stew (one with pancetta) and rustic bread. It was yummy and I could have easily eaten another bowl full.
It was our first visit. The museum was free which is always good and the food and drink was very enjoyable. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. You couldn't have asked for much more.
