We've made a couple of visits to the High Peak Bookstore and Cafe recently.
They're a small business who also supports other local businesses. They buy in nearby products from Buxton Coffee Roasters and the Birdhouse Tea Company, to name but a few. A lot of businesses have gone bust since covid days, so it's important to help each other out.
On our first visit we had quiche, salad with lattes and very nice it was too.
Second time we had lemon sponge cake with lattes. I could have easily had a second helping!
Most of their books are half price. I think the last one I bought was under £3. It's nice to get a bargain. They also sell an eclectic mix of craft items, so I might pop back for Christmas presents.
There's a kitchen door leading to Narnia! I wanted to pop in just to see if I would enter some mystical, magical world, but knowing my luck, they'd just ask me to wash the pots!
Originally, the place used to be an old garage and petrol station.
There's still a few remnants from the past, such as the old petrol pump and Castrol can. I'm glad they didn’t throw these items away. It's much more interesting to make a feature out of them.
Both the cafe and bookshop was well worth the visit with friendly staff. The only drawback is that sometimes you have to queue as it can get quite busy. It's always a good sign!
