Having completed our walk on the Longshaw Estate, we decided to go to the onsite National Trust cafe. There's a seating area outside as well, but it was a little bit chilly, so we decided to sit inside the cafe to get warmed up.
As it is Halloween time, there's usually different flavours of coffee on offer for the season. I spotted this sign as I walked in. Pumpkin spiced lattes sounded good!
Some National Trust cafes aren't well known for their great food, but if you want a snack, some aren't too bad. This one wasn't very busy at the counter either. Unfortunately, they can be a bit sloooow serving you even when they're not busy. Sometimes, I've sat and thought I could have written my Christmas cards out by the time we have got served.
They'd expanded the menu since the last time I was here, so we chose a sundried tomato and smoked cheese turnover and one with ham in it. Unfortunately, when it was brought over to our table I realised they hadn't told me which was which. Being a vegetarian, I had to do the sniff test, so I didn't accidentally eat the wrong one!
Remembering the sign I'd just seen, we had to go for the pumpkin spiced lattes complete with a kitkat and a cornflake tart for afterwards. The autumnal flavour of the latte was perfect.
There was a lovely view from our window seat as we sat and ate our lunch. The weather wasn't too bad at this point, but afterwards, Storm Babet finally made an appearance, but we were safely on our way home by then.
