While looking for a café where we could enjoy a nice, affordable snack, we stumbled upon one tucked away inside the Río supermarket. They have a wide variety of sweets and a fairly large bakery section. It seemed popular to us because the tables were full. I suppose it has to do with the fact that people do their shopping and take the opportunity to sit down for a while and chat over a cup of coffee.

My husband felt like a kid at an amusement park when he saw so many options, so in the end he chose two desserts: a chocolate one and a tiramisu, to make the most of the moment. As for me, I chose a fruit tartlet with peach, kiwi, grape, tangerine, red apple, and green apple—which I think is a nice variety. We also ordered two small lattes without sugar to balance out the flavors, bringing the total to $9.

The place isn't very cozy since it's located in the middle of the supermarket, but it's still quite comfortable, very clean, and the service is friendly. As for the prices, I feel they’re competitive given the market, but I can’t say the pastries are very tasty—my husband found them too sweet and couldn’t finish them. As for me, I really liked the tartlet: the fruit was fresh, and the sweetness of the cream was well-balanced.

We both really liked the café con leche: the foam was creamy, and even though it didn’t have any sugar, it didn’t taste bitter at all. We were actually quite satisfied. I think we should give it a second chance and try some other options, since we don’t want to judge it based on just two types of pastries out of the more than fifteen they have available. Overall, we had a good experience, but I don’t want to recommend it 100% until we’ve tried at least five pastries, so we’ll definitely be back.

¡Nos vemos pronto!
