Scene One
A lady is coming out of a coffee shop, sipping her coffee absent mindedly when she bumps into someone.
Lady: I'm sorry, I wasn't looking.
Man1: (frowning at his stained shirt and getting angry) Of course you weren't looking, if you had I wouldn't be dripping coffee right now.
Man2: It's okay bro, she already apologized, besides it wasn't intentional.
Man1: You can talk but I don't see coffee on your shirt.
Lady: I'm really sorry sir.
Man1 looks up for the first time and is stunned to find a beautiful looking woman staring at him. Horrified he's been rude to her, he runs in the opposite direction without thinking
Man 2 is seen still talking to the stranger as they exchange what seems to be contacts
Scene Two
The lights come on in what looks like a club, there's music playing and a number of people are moving and dancing. Two men are in a corner, one is seated entirely calm while the other squirms in his seat
Malik: You need to calm down Simon. Remember we're here to have fun, besides we've only just got here.
Simon: (Raising his voice) If only you'd listen to an me. I've told you time and time again that I don't want to have fun.
He glares at a few people who stop to stare at him and they hurriedly continue on their way.
Simon: (reducing his voice) What would it take to convince you that my idea of fun is watching the news and a good night's sleep.
Malik: (smiling) You realize its been years since you started with that excuse. You need another convincing lie besides I think it's time you unwind.
Simon gestures with his hand to the people moving around.
Simon: Do you call this unwinding? This is just a waste of time.
Malik: Perhaps you'll finally ask someone out tonight.
Simon:(laughing nervously) I'm certain there's not one woman here to catch my fancy, let alone set my heart racing. They're all just a waste of time.
Malik: I beg to differ. It's seems to me that there's a certain pretty blonde seated just to your right who's been trying to catch your eye ever since we got here. I bet she's interested in more than racing your heart.
Smiling, Malik tilts his head slightly to indicate the direction the blonde is seated
Simon: (fighting the impulse to look) I've told you before and I'll repeat myself, I'm perfectly okay being alone and please get that idiotic smile off your face.
Malik: (still smiling) Maybe she'll need convincing of those words because she's now headed in our direction and I'll bet she's not coming over here to talk to me.
Simon: (a look of pure terror on his face) Malik don't leave.
(Malik stands up and walks away leaving his friend as Simon turns to look at the figure coming over)
Simon: (open mouthed) You
Blonde: Yes me.
SCENE THREE
The lights comes on and we see Malik sprawled on a sofa, reading a book in what looks like his living room
There's a knock on the door
Malik: (wondering who would be at his door early in the morning) Who's there?
Simon: It's me open up.
Malik walks to the door and opens the door
Malik: What are you doing here this early in the morning?
He had left Simon at the club the night before when it seemed his friends attention was solely for his newly found blonde.
Simon: (walks into the room) You lying devil. Swear you had no idea who the blonde from yesterday was.
Malik: (confused) I don't know what you're talking about, am I supposed to recognize her?.
Simon: Bullsh!t, you expect me to believe she just happened to be at that bar on the same night you forced me to go out.
Malik: I don't know who she was and if I did you think I'd let such a pretty girl escape my hands.
Simon not so sure whether Malik is telling the truth. To avoid embarrassing himself, he walks to the sofa as Malik follows behind and they both sit.
Simon: Well her name is Alicia and she's the lady from the coffee shop. (seeing Malik's confused look). The one who bumped into and spilled coffee on me.
Malik: (finally showing recognition) Oh! you mean the one you literally ran away from.
Simon: I didn't run young man. It was simply an added touch of mystery to raise her curiosity.
Malik: (laughing out loud) So bolting like a scared rabbit is now deemed to be a mysterious act.
Simon: You know nothing about the inner workings of a woman's mind.
Malik: I bow to your superior intelligence Sire.
Simon: While you were chasing lesser game, i was busy winning her over and guess what. I've got a date with Alicia tomorrow.
Malik: For someone who claimed to not be interested in women I'm surprised you've fallen for the first pretty face that showed up.
I hope you do realize tomorrow is Valentine's day and understand its significance.
Simon: Who said shes just a pretty face and who said I've fallen for anyone. Besides it's just a harmless date, I never said anything about love.
Malik: (giving Simon a knowing look and smiling) That's exactly what i expected you would say.
Simon: (blushing) If you'll just keep taunting me, I guess I'll just be on my way.
Simon stands up and hurriedly walks to the door
Malik: (laughing) For a guy who claims to not be in love, you came over this early in the morning just to tell me you're going on a date.
Simon walks out and slams the door. Malik walks to the phone and dials a number, after ringing for a few seconds a female voice comes on
Voice: Hello Malik
Malik: Hello Alicia. It looks like my plan worked, he'll definitely show up tomorrow.
The End
