Working in the busy corporate world of construction, our lives seem to be running fast. We don't usually notice that another day has ended. Due to tasks and deadlines, reports, we forgot to take a breath and appreciate the life surrounding us.
On January 29, 2026, my colleagues randomly invited us to have some coffee after our working shift in the newly opened coffee shop on the bypass road in Lipa, Batangas, called Five 2/4 Coffee Shop. Most of us join cause we know everyone deserves a pause after our day, and it is only the time we set back and talk about our lives other than our work.
It's already nine in the evening when we arrived at the coffee shop, and we didn't expect the crowd since it's already late. There are a lot of people, we thought we couldn't find a table, and luckily, they have an unoccupied at the 2nd Floor. After securing our table, we lined up to take our order at the cashier's counter. After, we headback to our table and wait for our drinks.
While waiting, the rants and complaints regarding our workplace, team leaders, and the system we have are pouring in at that moment. Everyone is talking about it loudly, and the noise made me silent. To give you an insight, based on my point of view, our company is struggling right now, a lot of people are leaving, a lot of integration and changes of management, no additional manpower, limited resources, and a tight budget for our operation, which puts us at the bottom of the chain, the primary affected.
Due to the colleagues' leaving out, their task was spread out to us, who are still in the team, making our task more than we should handle. We can't complain directly cause were just a team member. While listening to their loud rants that compete with the noise of the vehicles passing by and other customers, my heart is pumping tightly, I resonate with their situation cause Im in the same boat, but it hits deffirent to hear from the others that they are struggeling and they think the only choice to resolve it is also to give up and walking out like the others.
The rants are still continuing, and suddenly our queuing number starts buzzing, a notice that our orders are ready to pick up at the counter. I volunteered to get it together with my other colleagues. It's almost 20 minutes of waiting, I can't blame it, there are a lot of people at that coffee shop at the moment.
While distributing the coffee, we notice a Bible Verse written in the cup. It says "Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you" 1 Peter 5:7. One of my colleagues read it, and the rants and complaints suddenly stopped.
There's a 30-second silence from us, and we look to each other and smile. I think all of us realize at that moment how perfect the verse answers our rants and complains erlier.
While drinking our coffee, the mood suddenly changed, from the heavy energy earlier, it quickly turned to light. After reading the verse and tasting our coffee, it makes us awake and realize how we could handle the situation we have right now. There's no concrete plan at the moment, but our faith has become stronger and believes that there will be a light after this dark era we are facing right now.
At that time, we started appreciating how cozy the coffee shop was, the huge number of customers even at late night, and the quality of the coffee they brewed for us. I ordered my usual drink when visiting a coffee shop, which is the Spanish Latte. At this time, I ordered an iced one. I love how they blend it. It captures the taste I want for a Spanish latte. Not so strong but not too creamy as well.
The Coffee shop is made of two joined Con Van. They have a wide open space outside for their costumer and also have a 2F where we positioned ourselves that night. This is a perfect coffee shop for late-night rides and chilling outside with friends.
I'm grateful that weve visited this coffee shop, their coffee and message enlightening us how to handle our uncertainties at work. It was amazing how strong this coffee is, and it makes our world revolve slowly and think positively in life.
That's it for this blog. I hope you learned from this, just like what we did.
