This medium roasted Arabica from 1,500 to 1,600m ASL was the perfect "pasalubong".
This is the second time I will be posting under the title "Coffee is Life". If you are still wondering why I created this series, well, to me coffee is really, truly, and deeply ingrained into the very fabric of the life and culture of Filipinos, thus coffee is life. We drink coffee after waking up and, sometimes, at least count me in this group, before going to bed. We have them at the office, or when entertaining guests at home. Working outside in a coffee shop - check. Drinking it at the convenience store - check. I could go on and on.
So, last night, my wife arrived from work and, surprise me not, she brought home some coffee. She also loves coffee, by the way. It's one of those highland coffee beans that I liked drinking when I stayed in Baguio City for a short period of time more than a decade ago. This is a welcome "surprise" indeed.
I wanted to make some already when I saw it but stopped myself, lest my nerves get too frayed. So I waited until the morning came. It's now 1:30 a.m. It's technically morning already -- so I made some. LOL.
Without further ado
It tasted great; enough to give one that oomph needed to keep the senses alive throughout the night while I play RSG. LOL.
First impression
It did have a hint of bitterness; not too harsh, but just enough to let the other flavors infused in the beverage to be recognized. I do plan to cut the steeping time by one minute to let the other flavors stand out even more and take center stage.
Another improvement that I thought of doing was to let the water cool for a while before pouring in.
Possible adjustment
I thought that I was too hasty and excited to pour in the water. It had just boiled but I immediately grabbed it and poured it in. Perhaps I can also add in a little more water since two tablespoons of this particular type of coffee might be good enough for a full serving using the french-press that I own.
To end
For me, having coffee is like watching a movie, sometimes I want to watch a good movie, then move on to the next. At other times, I binge-watch a comedy series, such as Friends or The Big Bang Theory, then I watch it again from the first episode up to the last. Same thing with a great cup of coffee, I get to discover certain flavors and nuances that makes it worthwhile to brew the same beans over and over again.
That's it for now. Thanks for reading up to here. Love and peace.
