Hi Hive Lovers
Towards certain hours in each of your daily activities, surely you will feel bored, sleepy, and tired. This particular hour occurs in the early morning around 09.30-11.30 or in the afternoon around 01.30-05.00.
You should be grateful because you still experience boredom, sleepiness, and fatigue during those hours. It shows that your body is still normal. It is part of the biological cycle of the human body and repeats itself every day. The symptoms you experience are called Circadian Rhythm.
Decreased concentration, drowsiness, and fatigue at these hours are caused by a decrease in cortisol hormone levels in the body. Cortisol is a glucocorticoid hormone that your adrenal glands produce and release. Among the functions of the hormone cortisol is to increase focus and alertness levels, regulate metabolism, respond to the immune system and regulate the body's response to stress, and others.
The normal range for cortisol hormone levels is:
- 06:00 – 08:00 am = 10 - 20 mcg/dL
- 04:00 pm = 3 – 10 mcg/dL
Normal ranges can vary from lab to lab, time to time, and person to person. If you need to get a cortisol level test, your healthcare provider will interpret your results and let you know if you need to get further testing.
As we continue our daily activities, our body's metabolism adjusts the energy levels that will be used to maintain our level of focus and concentration. Our daily activities really drain energy so it also causes the levels of the hormone cortisol to decrease and causes us to feel difficult to concentrate, tired and sleepy at certain hours.
When you experience the three symptoms above and immediately get a cup of coffee, then sometime after you consume your coffee, your tiredness and sleepiness will soon disappear and you can return to full concentration.
That's why we time our daily activities. In the morning before noon around 09.30-11.30 or in the afternoon around 01.30-05.00, we make a coffee drinking schedule to increase the production of the decreased cortisol hormone level, we call it ## Coffee Break.
Your comments are very much needed to enrich our experience in enjoying coffee during Coffee Break.
Enjoy your coffee time!
