If it happened that you had read my previous blogs, then maybe you got an idea about my vacation here in Taiwan. I visited my husband for a while because I missed him . Aside from a few tourist spots that I listed to visit here, what I also wanted to try is the teas.
It was years ago when milk tea became a trend and everyone was getting crazy buying. Would fall in line for an hour, willing to spend money (as it wasn't that cheap to buy instead of water !). Different flavors were offered and from well known brands to neighborhood kiosks. I was one of those who has been fond of milk tea, not minding how much sugar was added.. Then, the husband told me how it tastes good and cheap here in Taiwan. So I was like, okay, I want to try several of ! Thank goodness I am not diabetic so surely won't miss the fun!
On my second day here, after lunch time, we go for a road trip from Nanzi going to Maolin where we drop by at Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum, Lover Falls at Tubaru and the Duona Suspension Bridge. As pulled over somewhere, we decided to buy Milktea.
The moment he handed me a cup he was indulging me to have a sip! Someone's excited here! Yet, take a look at the packaging, yes, it was since 1994. That made me think, was milktea already available that year? So I did a little bit of research and here's what I found out.
- Taiwan was well known for serving world famous Tea.
- One of the famous Milk Tea booba originated here and started in 1988.
Wow, no wonder that it tastes so good! I could really savor the tea mixed with and not just sugar! I guessed they are using leaves and not just powder.
The next one I tried was the top one I found along the road when the husband and I were out to buy some fruit. It was so tempting seeing several stores on my left and right everywhere! Seemed like waving at me, lol.
It can also be purchased through food deliveries and can be contacted using line. That is the app they are using here for communication.
This time, I tried something sweeter.
I was a little bit dismayed as they aren't using transparent cups so I just took a photo of what I ordered. See on the left side.
That wasn't the last as on incoming days, I kept ordering different flavored if teas every time we were out to dine.
I was not that fond of Green tea but I did try to order a cold cup of green tea with lemon juice and peach fruit. The husband was reluctant upon hearing my choice as he knew that was not the usual beverage I ordered.
Hehe, did have a good choice as my taste buds love it. One more thing, even if I left it in the refrigerator for two days, it still tastes the same! Unintentionally forgot about it as the cup size was XL. So, I kept off for a while.
What about a chocolate flavored?
I felt I needed some energy after traveling from Kaohsiung to Taipei, exploring some tourist spots the other day and now standing in line at Taipei Zoo. This food cart was beside us so I did tell hubby to buy me a bottle.
Was I energized? Somehow I managed to walk a lot at the zoo and saw some Lazy pandas.
The last tea I tasted was today,
Green tea with Prunes I can say this one is my favorite as I finished a bottle while eating my breakfast. It was refreshing as the prunes balanced the taste of the tea. How can I explain it? 🤣. I am not really wordy when it comes to food but I can vouch that all Teas here are worth trying.
Also, it doesn't cost more than $2.
I was thinking of writing about it the next few days after I saw that prompt for this week as I haven't tried HOT Teas yet. However, I'm not sure if I will have time in the next few days. Perhaps, I will be sharing about it next time.
Happy weekdays and this is my entry in The Coffee Shop Prompt | W- 32.
