Hey Coffee Lovers!
You know, it occurs to me that so much of what we do every day is routine - and that over time, we don't take the time to stop and to appreciate what we actually have. Marie Condo asked it best, 'Does it bring you joy?' - and you know what? It's so often the simple niceties in life that do just that!
Today - I wanted to give you a glimpse at my coffee canister. It's a couple of months old now, and so often I don't even see what I'm holding when I get it off the shelf. I guess if you handle something ten times a day, perhaps you don't even see it for what it is.
So join me, as I take the canister off the shelf, and look at it, for what it truly is: something special.
This canister is a hand finished ceramic, and stands at 25cm tall - that makes this little guy quite the solid fellow. I really rather love the design, and it fits into our kitchen design beautifully, completing other pieces. While it is new, it is part of the HK LIving 70s range - which is awash with all sorts of designs and patterns that compliment each other. We love our kitchen, because it is quite high end - but it has these 70s touches throughout. If you look at the background of my image - you can see our splashback tiles have a very modern look, but flirt with an earlier time - the tiles were designed by a Mid Century geometric illustrator dude. But back on track:
Now, I'm not what you would call a 'Coffee Snob' - and I very much am OK with instant coffee, as long as it's not the cheap ones. I tend to go for the Moccono coffee - at it's highest strength! It makes a good cup, and you can see in this next image the 70s design ceramic spoon I've previously shared working in unison with this 70s canister! Groovy baby, yea (Or was that the 60s?)
And of course, this all leads to the end result: a cup of coffee I can be happy to drink! Here's my big red home cup doing what it does best: inviting me to drink! It's a bit of an overcast day here - this photo was taken a couple of hours ago, an since then, we've had torrential rain and it is absolutely freezing! Needless to say, I've taken the canister off the shelf a large number of times today - and each time, I've made sure to appreciate how nice things can make a nice cup of coffee even nicer!
And to finish this post off, will share one of the advertising images for this canister, just so you can see it in all its glory! (And this one is clean!) You can see why it is easy to fall in love with something like this, which is rather special. I love the purple/blue blending into the browns, and then into the motley cream. To me, this colour combination is divine! I will give you a warning though, that lid is HEAVY. I've dropped it when I hadn't had a great grip a few times, and I ended up with a little crack in the lid - nothing major, and my wife fixed it with glue - but I do have large hands - it's just an awkward shape. Also, you can see how true to image the purchase is - variations occurring obviously in the way it is hand finished.
Let's start a conversation then: what do you store your coffee in? Have I tempted you to make another online purchase?
