Many have told me I should re-try Janji Jiwa because they’ve improved their quality. The last time I tried them was a few years ago and I did not like their coffee nor the vibe of their place. It was the lowest quality chain that I’ve gone to and I promised to never ever go back. However, it seems that lately they have rebranded and changed the aesthetic of their place as well as their menu.
The difference I am noticing is that they try to mimic starbucks ambience while catering to mid-ranged budget coffee and toast. As competition getting quite fierce with better chain such as Point cafe among many, Janji Jiwa definitely has the need to step up their game. Somehow, I’ve been seeing the chain for a while now but only the other week I was compelled to try their toast.
These days they have options to go full arabica and their coffee tastes a lot better than what I remembered. It was a good balance mix between coffee+ milk and the toast is actually pretty decent. I was pretty amazed that their bread is pretty firm with good thickness and isn’t soggy when buttered. I tried their beef truffle mayo that has a combination of beef patty, omelette, cheese and truffle sauce. They taste pretty good and is great brunch options. I got the toast before boarding into my train and forgot to take picture of them.
What I mostly enjoyed the most is the coffee that was pretty good. It tasted similar like Starbucks and slightly less sweeter than the coffee from Point Coffee. They also improved their packaging and it looks a lot less cringey than their previous packaging. They know how to pick colors and actually brand themselves with a little more class than before.
Since I also visited the place, they are pretty comfortable to work from. They have plenty power outlets to use but mostly, you’d have to bear sitting next to teenager taking selfies. I was there quite briefly waiting for my train and was quite pleased to know they’ve actually improved their brand and how they operate their business. So, I take my words back and I would go back for their beef truffle toast and their pandan coffee.
