Starbucks Via Colombia Microground
It’s here!! I finally tasted my first Colombian Coffee.
I know it’s not ideal because it’s from Starbucks. But, I think it’s a great way for me to know a bit about what to expect before ordering actual Colombian coffee. In the past, I have tried Italian roast which I quite like, so this time, I am trying the Via colombian micro grounds.
Is a Lifetime enough to taste it all?
At this point, I notice that there is so much coffee in the world that I need to taste. Sometimes, I wonder if a lifetime is enough to taste it all. At the same time, I didn’t know that indulging in coffee would be an awesome journey. From going to many cafes, understanding how the coffee business works, even deducing types of coffee establishment, going into the luwak farm, being told to quit coffee, and now I am here; stuck but still attempting to explore it. These days, I mostly get starbucks and this is why, some of my coffee contents are all about starbucks.
And before I get to the tasting review, I have a confession to make.
I… I developed a Starbucks addiction !
It all started with just a caramel macchiato; I love this coffee variant, I even made it my username. Then, the next day I was craving for more. A series of bad days just made me want to get a consistent taste of coffee and I was not in mood to fuck around with coffee. So, another starbucks. For more than a week, my calories were mostly from Starbucks. I don’t know if that is worrying or not but certainly when I glance through the receipts, it doesn’t look really good. Since I can’t get over the addiction pretty quickly, I decided to get the VIA starbucks.
I heard VIA means road in Italian. Perhaps, it’s like another road/way to drink coffee anywhere. In the past, I didn't really care much about Starbucks. It was just one of those overpriced coffee but now after tasting some coffee all around the place, the plus point of Starbuck is the consistency of their taste. So, this was something intriguing to learn that now, I developed some addiction to it.
To curb my addiction, I thought by getting the microground instant coffee would help me lessen my dependency to Starbucks. I decided to get VIA Colombian because it was the VIA variant that I have not tried.
When it first arrived, I was puzzled. The package was so small that I don’t know how they could fit coffee sticks there. It was pocket sized coffee even though there were 3 sticks inside. There is some information about the coffee on the packaging. I can say, this packaging is something that other roasters can do. Though it is small, it has all the information needed about the coffee. The packaging looks quite neat as well. I suppose, no wonder it’s more expensive than a regular one from the brewery because the company also takes special care to the packaging.
As the packaging said, this Colombia Via sticks has a balanced & nutty flavor. This is something that I always go whenever choosing a coffee. Earthy, nutty, balanced, smooth instead of fruity or with sour apple aftertaste. In the packaging it also mentions that the coffee is medium roast which is good for my stomach, it’s not going to be too acidic and has a medium body. In the packaging, it also has instructions on how to make it. Since it’s an instant microground coffee, it’s easier to do. Pour 180ml of water into the cup with the coffee on it and that’s it.
When I first tasted it, the coffee was just as it described. It has a nutty flavor and balanced smoothness. It was quite okay but I don’t really get the wow impression of some coffee I tasted in the past. Was it delicious? Well it was but there are some better things I tasted. So, it was a so-so coffee experience. I often order decaf from Starbucks and now I wonder what variant they are using. Since I would prefer drinking their decaf than their VIA variant.
I made a promise to myself that I should only drink Starbucks once a week. But, now I am hooked on their decaf coffee, I need to find ways to get other decaf since I found from my app, Starbucks doesn’t sell the Decaf version. Anyway, that’s it, a story of my recent addiction to coffee.
