Hey, coffee lovers, how are you? It is saturday, my favorite day of the week for several reasons. One of them is that most of the time I am not wirking on Saturdays and the second one is that due to the home staying, I can entirely enjoy my coffee and the process of preparing it.
Last week I shared with you my experience of receiving a gift pack of coffee beans. They are roasted in Bulgaria by a newly starting guy who distributes samples of his coffee all around the country.
This sample comes from Panama and more specifically a farm, named Finca La Valentina. I don’t enjoy coffees from panama that often, but the most expensive Geisha coffees come from there. Some of the beans can be sold for more than $1500-$2000 per kg! Of course, today we dont have that expensive coffee, and no one should be allowed to learn how to roast coffee with such beans. 😁
*Christmas is coming and we already decorated out home. Are we the first to do that? A recent survey shows that people who decorate their homes early are happier!
The beans look fairly good and quite light roasted. You know that I like light roasted coffee and anything past medium roast has to be illegal in my opinion! Just kiddingC everyone has and can have his own opinion and preference on the roasting level of coffee beans. These are just visually perfect for me.
Time for a brewinng method choice… Because the beans seemed a little bit too little the quantity is gonna decide how to brew them. It turns out that they are exactly 15 grams… I tend to brew V60 with 20 grams of beans, so it is not gonna be filter today.
The espresso portafilter holds 12-13 grams of ground beans, so this also won’t be my choice… It is clear that today I am going with AeroPress again!
Beans are ground, water is already heated in the kettle. Time for action!
The two minutes of brewing pass too quickly and I am barely able to take some good photos when brewing the coffee. Well, of course I managed to take a couple of photos!
Coffee is ready and it is time for some Christmas themed photos of my coffee. It is the most magical time of the year for people celebrating it and the kids are even more excited than adults. But really, all these little lights and decorations do warm the souls of everybody.
My wife loves making different cookies and sweets and the Christmas mood makes her make some treats almost every day. I don’t mind at all, and kids don’t either. We are always happy to taste the upcoming holidays!
Now to the coffee itself… It really misses some character, but I think this is totally normal for beginner roasters. It os good, but does bot have any particular fruitful notes. It was more like the more typical mainstream coffee, but a lot better roasted. No bitterness and no harshness at all. It just missed some character.
Apart from that and given the fact it is Saturday, this coffee was well appreciated! Nothing can replace a warm Saturday morning in the company of some tasty coffee.
See you again some time soon! Wish you a wonderful weekend full of nice emotions.
Bye!
