In beautiful Bright, we decided to go out for breakfast - a rare event when we're travelling as we are always enjoying brekky somewhere with a view. But we hadn't eaten out in a good while so decided to treat ourselves.
The place was gorgeous - warm with lots of timber and a nice outdoor eating area. The menu was pretty extensive with a lot of vegan options, in fact, I think it was vegan entirely. They even had pink oyster mushroom bacon!
But let's start with the first thing - a spicey cacao. This was absolute to die for. As you know I've quit coffee so a good hot drink is important - it has to feel satisfying. For me it's not so much about waking me up but keeping that consistant blood glucose level so I dont' get tired anyway. It's important to have something that tastes good so you don't feel you are going without. This just totally hit the spot - creamy with oat milk and chocolate, and just a small kick of chilli. And isn't the cup just beautiful? They were homemade - I saw them at the market. I'd love a set but at $40 each they were too pricey for me!
Now Jamie's burger was amazing. HOmemade chips too! IT was mushroom and black bean and I don't know how they made it taste so good. It had a real cooked-on-the-barbie taste as well. It came with vegan cheese and mayo and salad, and he had to cut it with a knife just to eat it. He loved it. Better than an ordinary burger by far, was the verdict!
Mine was a bean bowl (which you can't quite see under the tofu - homemade tomatoey mexican style beans) with scrambled tofu. The tofu was amazing and I don't know why I don't do it at home. It was soooo big and filling I could hardly finish it, especially with the bread as well!
After breakfast we drove up a mountain for the amazing views over Bright. It was a 4WD and walking track only, and the track was a bit scary but of course the Defender made it up no problem!
The views were just glorious and it really made me see why people love it here so much. IT's a big mountain biking area, and a growers area too - nuts and apples. There's also a lot of pine plantations and I wanted to go mushrooming but it was a little early in the season.
I really loved Bright and can't wait to go back - and I'll definitely go back to the Wild Thyme Cafe as it was well worth every penny. As I am a decent cook I'm fussy buying breakfast so it's a big compliment to the establishment to say how delicious it was!
With Love,
