Hail to the Hive!
Yesterday we moved hotels and moved into a tree house kind of vibe hotel called…..wait for it…..
Wild Coffee Retreat!
So I of course was looking forward to waking up to my morning brew. So after an evening of Red Stripe and spicy oxtail stew I woke up in our chilled tree house style room craving some black gold.
So I negotiated my way down the steep wooden stairs ( tricky after a few beers ) and made my way into the kitchen/ diner.
I do love the style of this place. Now where be the coffee?
Ahaha! There you be. I instinctively looked around for the coffee filters for the machine and coffee provided but to my great puzzlement, I couldn’t find any. Never mind I’m used to improvising as I mentioned in a previous coffee post.
There we go, paper towels in multiple layers for filter.
Coffee mugs located, check! These do look quintessentially Jamaican too.
And then the mystery of there being no coffee filters was solved. I opened the bag of coffee grounds to find them in a neat filter bag! Superb. Now that is very convenient, no measuring, no mess, no problem man!
Ok pop that in and get everything started
And wait.
Mmmmm so my first cup I enjoyed on the upstairs balcony allowing myself to ease into the day.
While I was sipping and chilling I heard a voice down below. What could that be?
Breakfast delivered to the room.
Nice. So my second cup of Jamaican deliciousness was enjoyed accompanied by ackee and saltfish, bammy, dumplings and fruit. Today is starting out very, very well indeed.
And to cap off a golden morning at Wild Coffee Retreat I had a third cup, but this time on the downstairs balcony.
What a nice spot for watching the world cup on my i pad while downing another monter mug of Jamaican black delicious coffee.
