Hail to the Hive!

This morning I awoke to the realisation that I have already polised off the first lot of Jamaican High Mountain Coffee bought about 10 days or so ago.

Luckily I planned ahead and scooped up a similar looking package on a recent trip out to the shops. Word to the wise, don’t wait until your out before you replenish! Plan ahead.

So , grateful that I’d averted a potential disaster I went about brewing my morning elixir. However we have encountered another issue locally and that is

No bloody bleeding coffee filters to be found anywhere!

So it was time to improvise using several kitchen towels of the slightly thicker and more robust variety. Needs must. I am confident this will be fine as I have had to resort to these measures in the past.

All went well and it worked like a charm and the aroma of this wonderful black juice filled the air. There really is something special about this moment in the coffee making process. The smell and the anticipation makes one smile and feel somewhat comforted at the thought of what is about to come.

Even the ever watchful ginger tom from across the road seemed to be intrigued by what I was doing. Or more likely just hoping I would feed him. He plays the percentages and seems to do quite well. I mean he doesn’t even really live here but looks quite comfortable don’t ya think?

All done and ready. 8am here means time for a game to kick off in the world cup. I do coffee morning games and beer afternoon games so I have all bases covered. Works for me.

And I prefer to sit outside on the veranda watching on my Inlad and sipping the liquid black gold as I feel I can still soak up the feeling of being outdoors even if I am watching a game. I am enjoying the escape from the UK winter. Feeling very grateful to have dodged that cold wet bullet.

I also think I may have to start buy a whole more of this as I will want to bring some back with me when we finally return. But that can wait til later.

Right now I will savour the flavours and warmth of Jamaica 🇯🇲 with a smile on the veranda.
