I chose a coffee shop. I invited my old friend to chat about various things. He had just arrived from out of town, and I decided to treat him to coffee.
The guys left. We left to our own devices. He and I talked about work, and I, too, shared a lot about what I'd been up to in this new city.
The EXCELSO coffee shop is located in a downtown mall. I chose it because it was close to his hotel.
The place seemed comfortable and clean, but most importantly, it wasn't noisy. My friend and I chose to sit in the corner on the second floor, allowing smoking.
My friend smokes, but I don't. We were silent for a while. He enjoyed his cigarette while I just sipped my coffee and checked my phone for work.
My coffee was a hot cafe latte, with a delicious little cookie as a bonus. It reminded me of the coffee shop prompt this week. What I was thinking about amidst the many sounds and aromas in the coffee shop.
My friend suddenly blurted out a question about the future: what if we don't succeed? Honestly, it made me laugh. I'm almost 40 now. I'm no longer afraid of failure. At that moment, I smiled. I told her not to focus on success. I should just focus on living the present to the fullest, happy me. I'm tired of constantly thinking about the future and forgetting the present.
Let's just enjoy our coffee. Luckily, we're close friends and don't brag about our accomplishments. Neither of us has many friends. A few, but enough to protect our sanity from the obsession with power and success.
In coffee, we can think about many things. Don't forget to think about the present. Thank you for reading, greetings from SOBAT KELANA.
