Ever met someone with a refrigerator and/or cooler in his mouth? I guess not. That has changed today, as you've met me. This alone should be a testament to what my choice is. Is it?
My family use that tag to describe how I consumed hot food without letting it cool, blowing up some heat or even hash-hashing once the food is in my mouth. I just liked my things that way...hot.
And although it depends on what I am consuming, I generally like my beverages hot. Sodas, are of course, best served chilled, in my opinion.
Growing up in my home, everyone went by their preference. My immediate big brother, who attended a boarding high school would rather have his cold. That was how they had it back at his school and has become a part of him.
For beverages, when it comes to my tea, I like it hot but can switch things up at anytime. But coffee? It's a no-no. A different ballgame entirely. And I write this based on the one-off experience that I had taking iced coffee. It toned down on the experience for me. Even as I added more cream, there seemed no improvement. I got an almost chalky taste. I just did not enjoy it.
A warm coffee too, barely gives me the feel. It's either scalding hot or I'm not going through. I am much of a sweat-head and you may expect that I am a little flexible considering weather temperature, but I'm not. Summer or winter, day or night, sweaty or not, give me a burning cup, please.
Mind you, this is not me talking down on iced coffee. It's a lot about preference. Just like my big brother would say that I am defeating the essence and flavour by taking my coffee hot, I could say same for his choice. I mean, speak of the flavor, the aroma, the texture, hot coffee does it better.
Whatever my preference, I never think of iced coffee as any less. That a hot cup ticks all of the boxes for me doesn't make it any superior. It's just what I go for. Besides, what's that saying about "one man's meat" again???
So yeah, all day, every day, hand me a burning cup and I'll thank you.
