"Why do you always drink that bitter nonsense? How do you even enjoy it?" that's the exact question I always asked whenever I came across anyone drinking coffee. Prior to that, i had only taken a sip from an aunt's drink and drew conclusions.
But that was to change later on, when I moved in with a friend. His work made him an owl and you could find him working into the night at his laptop. And there also, was always hot coffee on the side which he sipped occasionally.
I still made same remarks and one day, he told me,
"Coffee is not as bad as you think. It's been very helpful to me."
"But it's bitter. And to me, bitter equals bad," I retorted.
"No, that's not how it is. You've probably had strictly black coffee. I like mine that way, sometimes, but there are other ways you can make it. Let me get you a cup," he had said.
"Oh, don't bother. Nothing can change how I feel about it," I said.
He insisted. Went in, and got me a steaming cup. One sip and my orientation changed. The trick? Some spoons of sugar and many scoops of cream. Since then, I've drunk cups and cups of coffee. Almost got addicted.
Notwithstanding, I like me some tea. With more than enough milk. Hehe. It's just so perfect for anytime of the day and any season. And you can have it with whatever. Plus, there are too many factors in favour of it, here.
One, there's it's availability everywhere in the country. Also, coffee shops are scarce plus, getting the tea is expensive. And, I love to sleep. Whatever takes that delight and I will be unhappy. One cup of coffee down and I'm cranky and insomniac. But of course, it has helped me stay awake when I need to and sharpen my focus whenever I down one. I like it.
Meanwhile, both are good in their ways. They have their numerous health benefits and there's the option of preference for anyone who consumes either.
Apologies to the jury(if any). But at this point, I think I'd let them do what they know best -judge. You don't expect me who is a huge lover of both to pick a side. They're both great drinks and they serve their purpose.
