Hello dear friends who always visit this fun and beautiful community.
As many of you know, and for those who don't... on Saturday, January 3, 2026, here in Venezuela we experienced moments of great tension.
On Sunday, January 4, 2026, there was much speculation about an uncertain future. It was said that we would not have electricity, that stores would close their doors, and therefore we would not be able to buy food, water, among many other things...
My neighbor Oleida, frightened like everyone else, came to my house to invite me to the nearest supermarket to buy some products (non-perishable food) and anything else we might need. I got dressed immediately and we went shopping.
The lines to get into the supermarket were very long, and we were very anxious about whether or not we would get in, since they were only letting ten people in at a time.
We waited in line for four hours, but finally managed to get in. It was like something out of a horror movie, seeing people grabbing whatever they could get their hands on.
We limited ourselves to only taking what we needed for our homes and, of course, what we could afford with our budget.
After grabbing what we needed, we arrived at a place where they sold a variety of breads and there was a café called “DON ELIAS CAFÉ.”
This area of the supermarket was deserted, with only a woman and a boy there.
We decided to take a moment of “PEACE” and went into the café, where we ordered two lattes and two chocolate chip cookies, which were delicious.
The few people who passed by stared at us as if we were aliens, ha ha ha.
I confess that moment while we were enjoying that delicious, frothy coffee was great. For a while, we forgot the reality of what was happening in our country and talked and laughed about how other people were looking at us, saying, “IF WAR IS COMING, LET IT BE WITH OUR GREAT FRIEND ‘COFFEE,’” hahahaha.
After finishing our snack, we paid the bill and had to return to reality. We had already paid for the groceries we bought, so we went home feeling calmer and more relaxed, since “COFFEE” is definitely the magical drink that calms any anxiety, fear, dread, etc. at any time!
That concludes my brief introduction to my great friend “COFFEE.” Thank you, dear friends, for arrive this far.
