Maybe that's how the universe works for us. Like a cup of coffee that helps us find peace. Since the beginning of the year, I have been consistently doing running. My running track never changes, always at Situ Gintung. A reservoir located in my area. Ciputat, South Tangerang.
However, that afternoon after finishing my 7km run, I cooled down and sat by the lake. However, something caught my eye, a cargo bike loaded with manual brewing equipment. There was a gooseneck kettle sitting at the bottom of the table, and on top, a middle-aged man was brewing coffee with a Hario V60.
You know, my nose really couldn't turn away from the fragrant coffee grounds that the owner of the cargo bike was brewing? However, being a bit shy, I refrained from sitting down for a while. Only after a while, I dared to approach and ask if I could order coffee? Yes, I thought they were selling travelling coffee with manual brew. Understandably, there are many travelling coffee sellers with manual brew.
The middle-aged man just smiled,
"I'm not selling, but I'm glad you want to come and drink coffee with me."
OMG! I was so embarrassed at that moment. How did I immediately assume that he was selling. I was about to take a step back, but he smiled kindly and told me not to leave.
The aroma of coffee held me. I decided to stay until the coffee was finished brewing and ready to be enjoyed. He was not alone but with his friends from the mini bike and cargo bike community. I could see their bikes lined up (sorry, I was too shy to take a picture of the lot but i have one, maybe next time I'll take a picture for you guys).
After getting acquainted with all the members, I chose to sit next to a member named Dian. She was the only female member there. When Mr. Arif (the name of the middle-aged man who was the barista) handed me the coffee that had been placed in the coffee cup, I accepted it with a thank you. How could someone like me resist this fragrant Kerinci arabica?
I sipped the coffee slowly and gratefully. It seems to be related to the very first phrase I wrote, that good things will come naturally when we are more able to appreciate and love ourselves.
While finishing the rest of the coffee in my cup, we continued to exchange stories, and I learnt that Dian and Rossy were both cyclists who had entered national training. We shared tips about sports and so on. Asking about our origins and current domicile is typical small talk for new friends.
The sky is slowly darkening, and my coffee is gone. A cup of warm, carefully brewed coffee. I was really impressed with our meeting. We even exchanged phone numbers to let each other know if they got together again...
Hi, I am the child of the universe, I like to read books with various genres. I was born in the city of batik but can't draw batik yet. I want to be a novelist, but my works are only short poems that are included in anthology books.
