Along the way to the location, there were more dry pine forests, as well as residents' fields, most of which were planted with corn. The journey without traffic jams, the scorching sky, made us look for a place to stop for a short break because our destination was still quite far away.
Shortly after thinking of a place, we found a coffee shop that looked cool and crowded. Although initially hesitant, once inside, it turns out that this coffee shop presents a pretty interesting concept.
PIKACO COFFEE SHOP WANGKELANG
Pikaco Wangkelang coffee shop is indeed located in Wangkelang sub-district, Pemalang Regency, although it is located far from the city center, however, this coffee shop is apparently also a hit among teenagers who like to hunt for unique coffee places.
Located right next to the river whose flow is still swift is a plus for Pikaco Wangkelang. As we sat enjoying our coffee, we felt even more peaceful listening to the ASMR sound of the rushing river. The arrangement of chairs that are sporadically distributed from the exact edge of the river, above, some are even inside like a saung. All places are aesthetically pleasing and no one gets a bad spot.
In addition to enjoying coffee and snacks, visitors to Pikaco Wangkelang can also get additional entertainment in the form of watching people rafting and crossing the river. That day, I was in luck: clear skies, a nice coffee shop, and the thrill of seeing tourists rafting.
BARISTA HOUSE DESIGN SIMILAR TO 'JINENG'
The house with the curved roof was adapted from a Balinese design where the house has a 'JINENG'. Jineng is a small building separate from the main Balinese house, and is usually used to store rice/harvest. The more modern and increasing tourism sector, there are many lodgings such as; cottages, bungalows, villas, and even glamping that adopt similar designs. Besides being unique, the jineng house model is very distinctive. From the entrance gate, there are stairs leading directly to the jineng house to order food. After ordering and making payment, customers then find a seat that is still available and wait for their order to be completed.
THE MENU I ORDERED
- Long Black and Latte
Of course, the reason I ordered the Long Black was because I thought it would have a little effect on relieving my sleepiness during the trip. Again, because the coffee I chose was served with ice it felt really fresh. Even though it was black coffee, it wasn't too bitter for me. My friend always orders a latte as usual. He's a latte lover. We often have coffee together, and he never seems to move away from lattes.
- Dimsum and fries
As a person with random tastes, I don't always pair coffee with cake or pastry, but more often, I order savory food to accompany coffee. LOL.
Like what I ordered now, dimsum and fries. My choice is dimsum, and my friend's is fries. We shared. We had to fill our not-so-full stomachs to continue our journey to our original destination.
It was already 2.00pm when we decided to call it a day sitting by the Pikaco river. We finished our food and drinks and left.
A good memory that arises on a trip like my encounter with PIkaco is always imprinted and will be remembered for a long time. Perhaps, one day if I pass this way again, I will revisit and taste another coffee.
