Happy evening coffee lovers, I am now part of this wonderful community and I join this fifth edition of our 5-part CoffeeConversations series, where we are asked, What is your opinion on the best coffee producing region and why? What are some of the qualities and characteristics associated with that region?
This is a rather broad question and to answer it, I believe that we must mainly go back in history. I say this because in the 1900's our country was fundamentally a coffee producing and exporting country until the beginning of the oil boom.
However, to date, production in the country continues to be maintained and classified by zone, with the state of Lara concentrating the largest annual production.
In Venezuela the largest coffee production is found in three regions; the Andean region that includes the states of Trujillo, Merida and Tachira, the western region, specifically in the states of Lara, Yaracuy and Portuguesa, and the last and no less important eastern region, specifically in the states of Monagas and Sucre.
It should be noted that these Venezuelan states have mountainous areas with altitudes above 800 meters, making them the best areas for the production of the plant.
The best coffee producing region par excellence is the eastern region, specifically in the town of Caripe where its cold temperature allows this crop to develop in optimal conditions to delight our palate.
And it is not only the final product that we take home and enjoy in a cup, let us remember that the coffee cultivation process can take up to two years to be harvested.
I have had the pleasant experience of visiting a coffee plantation in my neighboring town of Caripe here in the state of Monagas, where I was able to witness this process from its harvest where the grain is stored and threshed, then roasted and finally ground to be packaged and distributed.
An important part of the quality of coffee is given in the roasting process and coffee growers, due to their experience, already have the right moment to recognize when the roasting process has been completed in order to offer a quality product.
In my opinion that I have lived in the state of Lara, I have traveled to the state of Yaracuy, Trujillo and Merida, I can guarantee that to my palate there is no richer coffee than the one harvested in the state of Monagas and Sucre. The town of Caripe is undoubtedly a pioneer in delighting us with a quality product direct from the field to your table, this is due to the climatic conditions of the area that make the development of their crops are first class.
And so ended my entry to this initiative inviting you if you have the opportunity to visit the town of Caripe do not hesitate to enjoy a quality coffee, or you can also purchase them in supermarket chains through many ventures in the area.
I say goodbye inviting my friends ,
