Last week you saw some of my Easter Weekend in Blackpool, but we never miss out on the trip to the coast to take time to call in on Blackpool Zoo - now it's not a cheap trip out - for myself, my partner and two boys entry cost this time £85 which is around $106 and having been many times you might say are you not just seeing the same animals again and again?
But the bigger picture is everyone that pays to visit - is helping to fund the cost of keeping these beautiful and amazing animals fed and looked after - so future generations can come and enjoy them too.
While we went round last Friday, there were two school groups attending of 7-8 year olds - many of those children families could not afford to visit - so that sort of access where our future generations can see in person animals from around the world is priceless - and I would happily pay a little to ensure everyone can enjoy seeing and learning about the wonders of our planet.
And it's always different, every visit we see something new - it's a joy and should be available for everyone.
Up close or far away, a trip to the zoo brings to life animals you would never see in normal UK life - and it's so much more rewarding then looking at photos.
Penguins are always my favourite, and they have a quirky character that makes them so much fun to watch.
We have our own Guinea Pigs to enjoy, but these small mammals are still a wonder to enjoy for anyone that has not seen them before.
Many, Many years ago you will find a post or two when my boy much younger was sat pretending to milk this cow - this time he stands tall alongside it. I would look up the old photo - but I don't want to ruin his "street cred" lol
Orangutan are another favourite, but some days they just don't want a photo!
You know how celebrities bemoan the Paparazzi always photographing them - nothing on this guy.
Giraffes - literally we could take hundreds of photos every visit - but at some point it's more fun to just absorb the atmosphere and watch the animals.
Lyons just have this way of exuding royalty, I am the King - never forget it.

Animals galore and that warm fuzzy feeling that future generations can learn from and enjoy in person just a small portion of the amazing animals that exist all over our planet. Visiting the zoo never gets old, and the entry fee, food and drinks while inside and of course the tempting gift shop - it's all helping ensure this valuable resource will be there for others to enjoy in the future.
