Grassmoor Country Park is a nice place to go for a short walk. The paths are accessible for most people and easy to follow, as there is plenty of open space. The park also links parts of the Five Pits Trail which is now a walking and cycling route built along former railway lines that once served the area’s coal mines.
As I walked, I saw butterflies flying around, a red admiral butterfly and a female orange tip butterfly. It was smaller and more plain, but still nice to see. I must admit, though, the male is a lot prettier as it does have orange tips on its wings. They hardly stop still, though, to take a photo.
When I went, I saw hawthorn blossom at the side of the path. The flowers were all white and looked really pretty.
It was looking slightly overcast overhead but thankfully, the rain stayed away.
The park is a convenient place to visit if you just want a short circular walk, and enjoy getting out into nature. In spring it is especially nice because of the blossom and the butterflies.
