Yesterday was the most talked about cricket match. The India- Pakistan match of the ongoing world cup. This is one match that always gets a lot of hype and every single Indian and I guess Pakistanis also want to see this match.
The match was held in Ahmedabad city at the Narendra Modi stadium which is in Gujarat state. The stadium was packed with people. There were 120K people who were at the stadium watching this match. A huge number and one can only imagine how crazy people are to see this particular match. Being a Saturday almost every one at home is also glued on their T.V.s to watch the match. People also travelled from overseas to see this match. I find this very crazy to spend so much money to watch one match. There are quite a few people that I know from Muscat, who travelled to Ahmedabad just for 2 days to watch this match.
It started at 2:00 p.m. with Pakistan going on first batting. With my friends we had decided that we would watch the first innings at home and then for the second innings we would go to some external venue. We had booked a restaurant where they were screening the match. Honestly from the performance of the first innings we were in 2 minds whether to go or not, because the first innings went very dull and there was no excitement left in the match. Pakistan was all out with a total score of 191. It was not a very high score to chase.
Since we had booked the venue, we went ahead. There were very few others who had come. The manager told us that many people cancelled because the match became very dull to watch. Probably others had the same feelings that we had. Anyways we watched the match. The match was expected to get over by 9 p.m. but due to the low score it got over by 7 p.m. only. We ordered some drinks and food and had our own fun.
Look at the audience, the stadium is completely packed up. This normally happens for the India-Pak match.
It's always fun to watch it on a big screen with friends. The whole vibe gets different. I wished that the match would have been a little more interesting than it would have been good fun watching it. Here we almost lost interest when India started batting. The required run rate was less then 4 runs per over, there was no excitement only left.
The player of the match was Jaspreet Bhumra, He took 2 wickets and gave the least runs.
The plan was to have the dinner at this venue itself along with watching the match, but since it got over so quickly then we went to the Sea side for a stroll and then later on to another place for dinner which was a Keralite restaurant. The food was amazing over there and it made up for the loss of excitement of the match. With that the weekend ended and now today back to work.
