The city of Smederevo is a city of the past and rich history, Smederevo is a beautiful destination for a day trip with children. Many say that it is the gate of the Danube.
In Smederevo, there is the Smederevo Fortress, which was built in the 15th century, from which the sightseeing of the city usually begins. Smederevo Fortress is one of the largest plain fortresses in Europe. At the same time, we walked through a medieval courtyard that still preserves a rich history.
From the fortress there is a beautiful view of the Danube, a walk through its medieval walls thrilled me with its beauty and if it is very old, its appearance is preserved and almost all the walls that surround it along the Danube and some preserved towers.
To get to the city center, we cross the old railway, although some of the old trains are still on the move.
After crossing the railway we come to the promenade or the main square, which is great for a break before further sightseeing, along the street there are various small cafes and restaurants where you can refresh yourself with a drink or coffee.
After a short break, we headed to the wine town, which is close to the promenade, so to speak, in the center of Smederevo.
In the town there are nice houses made of old barrels, where all the winemakers of the Smederevo vineyards gather. To visit Smederevo without looking at this famous attraction of small wooden houses, the visit would not be complete.
After a certain walk, we were overcome by hunger, so we stopped at a nearby restaurant where they serve great burgers.
Remembering one beautiful adventure while getting to know the city, but still this city has other interesting attractions such as a museum, but just one afternoon is not enough to visit everything. I hope that in the future I will take a little more time so that I can get to know other parts that I did not manage to visit.
