Over The Bridge
I remembered that I still have some unpublished photos from my last travel to India & I decided to check them out & share them here. This one I made during my last days in Rishikesh. Those few last days I was walking a lot with my camera in the hand & going around spending my last rupees on teas, spices, jewelry & all other traditional goods that India has to offer. I was also craving of some extra photos of Indian people, especially women. But that is so hard to get cause of Indian traditions that do not allow so much for the women to show off, especially in holy, sacred cities which still practice the traditional customs. So, I actually needed to shoot secretly & unfortunately without the permission of this lady. On the other hand, many Indian people, both men & women were taking shots of me, with or without asking me for permission. I guess I look exotic in their eyes, as much as they look exotic in my eyes. So, I think this is kind of exchange!
This lady has been standing on the bridge & probably waiting for someone & I couldn't not to notice her beauty so driven by the attraction, I made this shot. The man on the bicycle just drove in the photo but I welcome him cause it makes kind of balance between the genders. Their looks & the ambience around show the typical Rishikesh everyday life with misty pollution in the air, dry river bottom during the late winter & early spring times which they use as parking...
