Hi everyone. I took this photo in a community called Colina, located at the far edge of Alamar, in the municipality of Habana del Este, Cuba.
This is an extremely impoverished community, so the special education specialists (defectologists) from the nearest clinic often visit with donations, especially for the children. This time, I joined the specialists to help distribute the items, but I was deeply shaken by the way people live there. Hearing about it is one thing, but seeing it with your own eyes is another. Practically none of the children we saw were smiling, except for this little girl. Her gaze was so striking that I asked for permission to take her picture.

Hola a todos. Tomé esta foto en una comunidad llamada Colina, que se encuentra al final de la localidad Alamar, perteneciente al municipio Habana del Este, Cuba.
Esta comunidad es extremadamente humilde, por lo que los defectólogos del policlínico más cercano, suelen ir con donaciones, especialmente para los niños. Esta vez fui con las especialistad para ayudarlas a repartir las donaciones, pero quedé impactada con la forma en la que las personas viven allí.
