The "Umlaufberg" is hill in Lower Austria that is nearly surounded by the thaya river. There is only a small path on the land that allowes to hike there. It is a nice spot to do some bird photography and if you are lucky you might also find some wild living cats there. But they are shy and usually only visible in twilight or during the night. The landscape there is very nice and the hike is not really exhausting so it is a really nice spot also for not that sporty people.
This Hill is at the border to the Czech Republic and you can still find some relicts of the Iron Curtain there. For example there is still an old Bunker and some old Border Checkpoints that are not in use anymore.
