Although it is the beginning of spring it is not always easy to find some wildlife or birds, the main kind of wildlife I want to find. But it is still winter ... :-( I am sure it will be a lot easier when spring will come and the temperature are rising drastically again. Because there was not a lot of wildlife to photography I took out my smartphone and did some landscapephotography of the Inn River and the wetlands there. I used my smartphone instead of my camera because I wanted to have my 150-600mm lens alwas on so if by any chance an interesting bird flew by I could take some pictures of it. I have to admit in good light conditions like this day smartphones can take pretty good pictures and they are getting bettter and better.
Now in early spring I like wandering throught the floodplains of different rivers. Of course the Inn River is still my favorite since I grew up there and also I found the most stunning birds there. In spring there are still no mosquitos that bother you so this is another benefit of visiting this place now and not in late spring or summer.

Of course mid and late spring bring a lot more different birds with them and every week there are different kinds of birds visiting during the migration time. Since this is one of the bigger wetlands here in middle europe there are a lot of birds visiting this spot during the bird migration in spring and also in autumn. Some of them are only here for a short visit so for me it might be important to get there right in time. During the week it is difficult because of my job but on the weekends I can concentrate on finding new birds there.
When there is a nice weather then sometimes there can be a really beautiful sunset. In the next picture you can see a sunset that I could photograph a while ago there at the Inn River. The reflections are always really cool and you still need some luck to get a saturated sunset since when there is a lot of mist in the air or when it is foggy or cloudy then deep saturated colors like these are not possible. Eventhough I have to admit I enhanced the colors a bit in this next picture.

A lot of reed and trees that grow on spots where no human can go is also a big benefit for the wildlife there. A lot of space for breeding birds or simple some spots to cover from predators is very important to a lot of bird species. Thats why precious spots like these are under protection and hopefully will be for a long time. Living directly at the floodplains is anyway not really a good idea. Because every 10-30 years there is a big flood in this region and all of the trees in this picture would be completely under water.
Since there are a lot of spots with Islands in the middle of the River some birds that breed here have a very nice protected place to bring up their offspring and produce new wildlife for this great habitat.
