Today we venture to Maguk or Barramundi Falls in the South of Kakadu National Park.
This is the waterfall, the gorge and the huge swimming pool that greats you at the end of about a KM of walking.
This pool it maybe 60-70m wide, 200mm long and is between 8-15m deep. The falls at the far end are maybe 15 metres high.
This waterfall flows all year round, one of the few in Kakadu that does, it is stunning but the walk there is maybe even more so
Working backwards from the pool back to the car park (which itself is at the end of about a 5km dirt road) you can see the shallows, smooth rocks and green trees
It is so tempting to swim here, but it's not safe, although unlikely there could be crocodiles in this part of the river. The path to the waterfall is along the rock of the right of the shot above.
This is just before a small river crossing, luckily no crocs.
Things are pretty dense in here, so you have to think about where the path might be.
Another river crossing, you can just see the people ahead of us on the other side of the stream.
And of course the ever present warnings about Crocodiles.
