On their own initiative, residents of two traditional streets in my city, Cumaná (Sucre State, Venezuela), decided a few years ago to decorate their facades with ornamental plants in pots placed in front of their homes. Almost all of them have grown and spread out lushly: Most of them are bougainvilleas, which are commonly called “trinitarias” here. They give these streets and houses a special charm and color.
