“The most important single central fact about a free market is that no exchange takes place unless both parties benefit.”
Milton Friedman
Open-Air Market
A market is defined from the economic theory as a set of transactions of processes or exchange of goods or services between different individuals, while marketing defines it as a set of consumers who want, can and are willing to buy or sell a product offered at a better price.
The first markets recorded in the history of mankind functioned by means of barter or exchange of products. Later, after the advent of money, codes of commerce were developed that would ultimately lead to the conditions we know today.
This morning as I was walking through the streets of the city, I noticed a small open-air market located in a vacant lot, where various types of vegetables, fruits and pre-packaged spices were for sale.
I was particularly struck by the use of hanging scales to weigh the purchases, an implement that has been replaced by electric or electronic scales, but certainly the place where the merchants are established, lacks electrical service, in addition, these improvised premises or stands are installed in the morning hours and then dismantled in the afternoon since they do not have deposits to store the merchandise during the nights.
