Hello friends of the lens, I recently had the opportunity to enjoy something very innovative: a campaign created by teenagers called Así ES (That's How It Is). It was created by Regla Jiménez de Armas, a teenager who is part of this Cuban initiative, launched on February 28th of last year in Havana, Cuba. Led by Regla Jiménez de Armas and other teenagers, the campaign's primary message is: Adolescences free from sexist violence. It seeks to "frontline the desires and aspirations of teenagers who want to live and remain in equitable and just gender relationships."
This initiative is coordinated by the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) and its Women's Publishing House, the Italian association COSPE, and the Martin Luther King Center, in partnership with the Galfisa Group of the Institute of Philosophy and the National Union of Jurists of Cuba (UNJC).
Adolescences Free from Gender-Based Violence seeks to "front the desires and aspirations of adolescents who want to live and remain in equitable and just gender relationships."
The main messages of the communication proposal address expressions of gender-based violence and its effects; the patriarchal roles and stereotypes that perpetuate it; as well as proposals for confronting gender-based violence.
The campaign is part of the actions of the project "No More: Prevention and Response to Violence Against Women in Cuba," co-financed by the European Union in Cuba and supported by the Local Initiatives Fund of the Embassy of Canada in Havana.
For this information, I relied on Google pages, as I was unaware of this initiative. I found it very important and appealing, as I saw the way young people were involved. They have a captivating approach with proposals for participation and a stimulating one through a random selection process, using a raffle with all the answers hidden in a kind of screen. The selected person is rewarded with a t-shirt and posters of the initiative. It's a very nice experience for everyone who participates; I was delighted.
Although it was a rather humid afternoon, it wasn't a reason to cancel the event, which delighted many people. Many artists also participated, showcasing their handmade accessories, which was very appealing and created a huge desire to own all those wonderful things.
