One of my favourite parts of the Mugla trip is the offroad through the mountains. Eleven huge ass cars full of people, gear, beer, and more gear. I was in the one with the beer. The goal was the sunset at this gorgeous spot where you could see mountains after mountains layered up as if a kid drew them. We had two guests with us. Both of them are absolute experts in their field and hearing them do what they do best at such a place... I got chills more than once. I'll save the landscapes for next time and show you more of the people and the behind-the-scenes.
And of course, when your dad tells you to stand where he is standing, so he can fix the lights, you go and do it. And you take a photograph in the meantime.
We were preparing the lights while everybody else was eating watermelon in the back. Just felt like I should mention it. And as a bonus to this nonsense, you get a rare photograph of my father with an animal.
After the watermelon was eaten people were ready for the big finale. We didn't get to have our gorgeous sunset, but when Elena started playing on her bagpipe and Siika started singing, everything else disappeared. I was sitting in the front and took two or three photographs while they were warming up. After that, I recorded a video, and I remember holding my camera basically on the ground, closing my eyes, and feeling the music go throughout my whole body and soul. If I say it was out of this world, I wouldn't be lying to you. The place magnified the experience. When I opened my eyes Siika was looking at me with a little smile. She knows how powerful her voice is, and she knew exactly what I experienced.
