Greetings to all the members of this community, lovers of photography. Today I bring you some photos of one of the biggest attractions of my city: the old cars.
Before 1959, the year of the triumph of the Cuban revolution, the streets were full of American cars, the latest models, especially Chevrolet, Ford and Buick. When the country broke off relations with the United States, it was no longer possible to import American cars, and added to this process, the U.S. embargo also limited and prohibited the importation of cars from other countries. Only cars from the socialist camp, such as the LADA, arrived in our country.
In the middle of the biggest crisis of the country, after the fall of the USSR and the whole socialist camp, those classic cars were still running as best they could. It was after this crisis, when the country turned its eyes to tourism, and with that, a second chance for the already worn out American cars began.
Today, tourists come and take a tour around Havana in these cars that now have vibrant colors, full of classic and vintage glamour, but with that tropical and novel touch that we Cubans have given them.
I hope you like the photos, and I hope you see in them, not only how wonderful it is to see these cars rolling after all these years, but also how beautiful it is to value the second chances that life gives us.
Un saludo a todos los integrantes de esta comunidad, amantes de la fotografía. Hoy les traigo unas fotos sobre uno de los mayores atractivos que tiene mi ciudad: los autos antiguos
Antes del 59, año del triunfo de la revolución cubana, las calles estaban llenas de autos americanos, de último modelo, sobre todo Chevrolet, Ford y Buick. Al pais romper relaciones con EEUU, ya no se pudieron importar más carros americanos, y sumado a este proceso, el.embargo norteamericano limito y prohibió también la importación de autos de otros países. Solo llegaron a nuestro país los autos provenientes del campo socialista, como los LADA.
En medio de la mayor crisis del país, luego de la caída de la URSS y todo el campo socialista, aún seguían rodando como podían esos autos clásicos. Fue después de esta crisis, cuando el país puso sus ojos en el turismo, y con eso, comenzó una segunda oportunidad para los ya desgastados autos americanos.
Hoy en día, los turistas vienen y dan un recorrido por toda la Habana en estos autos que ahora tienen unos colores vibrantes, llenos de un glamour clásico y vintage, pero con ese toque tropical y novedoso que le hemos aportado los cubanos.
