El COVID - 19 y su influencia en el aspecto económico, social, cultural y político.

En esta ocasión, quiero dejarles una corta reflexión que escribí hace unas semanas y que tenía guardada en mis documentos de mi computadora.

El COVID – 19 ha afectado nuestras vidas, de eso no hay dudas. Ha afectado todo lo que nos rodea, los países y sus gobiernos han estado buscando salidas a esta situación, algunos han salido victoriosos, otros no han tenido (¿o no han querido tener?) tanto éxito.

La economía, la salud, lo cultural, lo social y la misma política, no han escapado de la influencia de esta pandemia. Te dejo una reflexión muy personal sobre esto.

🌍 En lo económico: debido a la proliferación de este virus en el mundo, muchos países se vieron en la necesidad de aplicar cuarentenas sociales. Esto trajo como consecuencia la paralización casi total de la economía en esos países, trayendo más pobreza y dificultades financieras. Por otro lado y aunque parezca paradójico, fueron los países más ricos y poderosos los que se vieron más afectados en cuanto a cantidad de infectados y muertes. ¿La razón? Justamente por ser economías fuertes no querían paralizar sus actividades y como resultado el virus afectó a la población de manera alarmante en muchos casos. Además, el trabajo y los negocios en línea se dispararon a raíz de esta pandemia.

🌍 En lo social: si algo ha afectado el coronavirus es el factor social. Siendo las personas de la tercera edad los más aquejados, tanto en contagios como en muertes. Por otro lado, la cuarentena obligatoria ha hecho que no salgamos de nuestras casas alterando nuestras costumbres sociales y relacionales. Ya no hay besos, abrazos o acercamientos. Las visitas están restringidas, las salidas a divertirnos están limitadas o prohibidas incluso en nuestras propias casas debido a que no pueden haber grupos de más de 5 o 10 personas.

🌎 En lo cultural: unido a lo social, está lo cultural. Visitas a museos, teatros, iglesias, zoológicos, bibliotecas, universidades, escuelas, parques, actividades de celebración local como fiestas patronales, matrimonios, entre otros, están prohibidas o restringidas. Las costumbres de cada pueblo se vieron afectadas por el coronavirus y la cuarentena.

🌏 En lo político: este factor ha sido uno de los más relevantes. Hemos visto como presidentes, gobernadores y alcaldes de países y ciudades han tomado decisiones que han influido muchísimo sino, totalmente, en la situación de cada zona. Decisiones en algunos casos polémicas que permitieron que todo un país fuera afectado por este coronavirus, y otros tomando decisiones acertadas que han logrado contener o controlar la cadena de contagio. Y no hay que dejar de mencionar que muchos presidentes han tomado esta pandemia como una bandera política para promoverse ante sus ciudadanos y ante el mundo. Trayendo como consecuencia irresponsabilidad a la hora de informar o decidir estrategias.

Sea cual sea los factores en los que ha influido el COVID-19, lo cierto es que el mundo no será el mismo después de esto. Muchas cosas cambiaron y seguirán cambiando a propósito de esta pandemia. Solo queda adaptarnos a estos nuevos cambios y salir más fuertes y mejores de toda esta situación.

On this occasion, I want to leave you with a short reflection that I wrote a few weeks ago and that I had saved in my documents on my computer.

The COVID - 19 has affected our lives, of that there is no doubt. It has affected everything around us, countries and their governments have been looking for ways out of this situation, some have been victorious, others have not been (or have not wanted to be?) so successful.

The economy, health, cultural, social and even politics have not escaped the influence of this pandemic. I leave you with a very personal reflection on this.

In the economic field: due to the proliferation of this virus in the world, many countries were forced to apply social quarantines. This brought as a consequence the almost total paralysis of the economy in those countries, bringing more poverty and financial difficulties. On the other hand, and although it may seem paradoxical, it was the richest and most powerful countries that were most affected in terms of the number of infected people and deaths. The reason? Precisely because they were strong economies, they did not want to paralyze their activities and as a result the virus affected the population in an alarming way in many cases. In addition, online work and business skyrocketed in the wake of this pandemic.

Socially: If the coronavirus has affected anything, it is the social factor. The elderly are the most affected, both in terms of infections and deaths. On the other hand, the mandatory quarantine has caused us not to leave our homes, altering our social and relational customs. There are no more kisses, hugs, or close encounters. Visits are restricted, outings to have fun are limited or prohibited even in our own homes because there can be no groups of more than 5 or 10 people.

In the cultural aspect: linked to the social aspect, there is the cultural aspect. Visits to museums, theaters, churches, zoos, libraries, universities, schools, parks, local celebration activities such as patron saint festivals, marriages, among others, are prohibited or restricted. The customs of each town were affected by the coronavirus and quarantine.

🌏 Politically: this factor has been one of the most relevant. We have seen how presidents, governors and mayors of countries and cities have made decisions that have had a great influence, if not a total influence, on the situation in each area. In some cases, controversial decisions that allowed a whole country to be affected by this coronavirus, and in others, correct decisions that have managed to contain or control the chain of contagion. And we must not forget to mention that many presidents have taken this pandemic as a political banner to promote themselves before their citizens and the world. This has resulted in irresponsibility when it comes to informing or deciding on strategies.

Whatever the factors that have influenced COVID-19, the truth is that the world will not be the same after this. Many things have changed and will continue to change as a result of this pandemic. We can only adapt to these new changes and come out stronger and better from this situation.
