Greetings everyone
How are you, friends? May God always bless you. Thank you Indonesia Hive Community. A Mosque is a place of prayer, and can also function as a place for muslim worship activities of a social nature. A few month ago, I was in Yogyakarta and visited the Great Kauman Mosque.
It's one of the oldest Mosque and is inseparable from the Yogyakarta Sultanate. It's located west of the town square west of the town square in the Northern part of the Sultanate complex.
The great Kauman Mosque in Yogyakarta was built around 1773. Designed by Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono I. A touch of traditional Javanese architecture and Javanese culture.
I tried to enter the Mosque, where the prayer room has two rooms, namely the main room and the porch at the front. the concept is open at the front and sides, using a Javanese pyramid roof. The roof of the main room used a three-tiered pyramid shape.
Above the last umpak is installed a crown as a dome. Each roof umpak, there is natural lighting and natural air circulation for the comfort of the interior space. The load- bearing pillars.
The construction of the main building used round teak wood pillars, the teak wood pillars are still original. Connections, such as wooden posts to other wooden post reinforcement, do not use metal nails, but use nails Made of wood, or called pasak kayu (wooden pegs).
The Veranda building functions as a place for prayer and also functions as a place for social and religius activities. Still within the Mosque complex, in the front yard there are several traditional Javanese building.
At that time, these buildings functioned as security guards for the Sultan. And currently, they function as Pagongan a place to store gamelan.
The Great Kauman Mosque in Yogyakarta has been a cultural heritage building since 1931.
Thank you very much, hope it's useful.
