Hello and happy Friday to everyone in hive learners community. Gradually we have moved to the end of the month which happen to be the first month of the year.
Today's topic remind me of something that happened few years back in my city. We suddenly began to notice that strange faces started coming into town from other places. When people started complaining about it , we did not see anything bad in having people come into town from other places. We just waved it and continued with our activities. Before long we had the news over the radio station that we have new people that just moved into town, and so everyone should be careful with the people we mingle with. The warning was focused on okada riders. They were warn to be careful of whom they carry in their bike or okada, especially in the next.
In just few weeks we heard of a bike man beheaded and his bike taken from him. Everyone began to wonder where this is coming from. We never suspected that it was caused by the strangers that just moved into town with a motive. After a week we heard of another bike man who was injured by unknown face. It continued.
When one is doing something with an evil intentions and no one is seen or noticing. Just give a little more time and you will know that God does not sleep.
This kept increasing by the day. It started happening every week. It became the norm of the society. All we keep hearing from week to week is: This bike man was killed last night and no one saw his bike, the other bike man was injured two days ago and his bike was stolen from him. Some of the bike men we have around started closing work before 7 pm so as not to fall a victim of what was happening as at that time.
It now became a problem for travelers who may come back from a journey in the middle of the night or even by 8 pm because there was no more night or mid night bike. People became more careful with moving out in the night too, because no one knows what was going to happen next. As things continued like this, we never knew that the bike men started having secret meetings, planning on how to get the people responsible for this act. After about three months that this ugly situation started we heard that some bike men started setting traps for their customers to enable them know who is responsible for killing the rest of the okada riders.
A man just called a bike man and asked him to carry him to a nearby village, unknown to the man, the cyclist had notified the rest of okada men to follow him from a distance. The took up to twenty minutes to get to the village and before the okada man could request for his money, the man he carried brought out knife and asked him to drop the keys to his okada or lose his life. The okada man grabbed him and started shouting, but before the other cyclist could come closer to rescue him, he was already injured by that thief. He was then rushed to the hospital and thank God that he did not die. But the thief was handled very rough by the angry okada riders and they killed him at a spot even before the police men know what was happening, the man has kicked the bucket.
From that day on, okada riders started killing the people who have been behind the very act. Most of them that were caught were killed instantly. One of the most pathetic one was the young man who just got married about two years and his wife was still carrying his first child who was not up to six months, when he was caught, they okada riders burnt him immediately there, all that his wife heard was that her husband was caught stealing bike and he has been killed.
No matter how lucky you think you may be, there is always one day. And that one day, one may not even have the chance to repent. So, the earlier the better. Let us not allow anything that will stain us before God and before men.
