I don't really know what to say about what is happening now, but I think that things just changed for the worse since the last government took over power. Though we have had issues of crime here and there, but it became bad recently. I had to stop going to church just to stay at home to stop rubbers from entering my house to steal. Like I said earlier, the issue of crime has always been there. Even in bible days we had people who refused to do something good with their lives. All they care about is go round people's houses and make away with people's property.
For the last prompt of week 75 edition 3. " Crime Rate" I just thought of using my personal experience to share with the house.
*What's the crime rate in your vicinity?
Well, for my place, the crime rate is very high. Because of the situation of things in the country, people have decided to take stealing to another level. Now people don't take their maze for blending in other to have maize floor and live it there. No. You have to stay back and watch over your maize. If you don't do so, someone else will come, pretend that he owns it and take it home. In fact, anything reasonable you keep outside will go missing. That is the simple truth. Last week I told my neighbors that any day anyone forgets his or her self outside, this criminals will steal him or her without the knowledge of that person. Is as serious as that. Yes, I know that people are hungry, but at the same time we have no excuse what so ever to steal what belongs to others.
How is the night life there?
People don't move around in the night again like before. Most people who were kidnapped around my area were kidnapped at night. So, so many people are afraid of walking in the night. Though even the day time is not safe too. But is still better than the night. The coffee in my area was just suspended some weeks back. Before now, everyone must be in his or her house by 8 pm everyday. Why it was like that was because someone was kidnapped in the night time. So, that was a major to curb that. It didn't even stop them from carrying out their crimes. There will always be a new strategy.
Are people always free to go about or does everyone have to be behind locked doors at a certain time of the day?
For now, people don't move around at anytime they want, we all try not to be outside in the night because of the rate of crime going on in the community. Even when such laws are in place, it will still not stop people from moving out in the night, because some people will tell you that it doesn't matter at all.
In conclusion, by mere looking at the way things are going on today, one don't need to be told when to go back home. If you love your life,, then you know the right thing to do.
