Indeed, Technology has really made life easier. I remember the stories my grandma told me while growing up and how they do trek long distance. Most of them trekked from one town to other on their foot. Imagine how stressful that could be. The only means of transportation then was through animals such horses and donkeys. Only few people could afford such as at then except for the rich and wealthy people.
In this current era, if you choose to ride on horses, it must be for recreational purposes not as a means of transportation to far away distance. Reason why is because the earth is evolving and things keeps changing day by day. Who among those rich personality can be able to boast of those horses in this current era? That's because we no longer live in an era where we solely depend on animals as means of transportation.
The invention of vehicles and cars has really made means of transportation easier. At least, if you don't have a personal car, you can board a public transport such as cab. Having a car as a means of transportation is more comfortable, less stressful and faster compare to riding horses.
Despite the numerous advantages about the invention of cars, there has been a recent increase in the occurrence of accident reported. Many have lost their precious lives as a result of this. The major cause of road accident has been attributed to negligence and reckless driving by the drivers.
As a result of this recent happenings, self driving cars are being invented. It is said to be safer and less stressful compare to the previous invention.
The question is that is this self driving car actually safe especially in a country like mine where there are bad road and infrastructure that could make road transportation a difficult means of transportation. In my opinion, it is a No, we are simply talking about automated self driving cars here,. I believe it should not become a mainstream of transportation in our society due its likely adverse effect especially in a country like mine.
We can't totally rely on an automated self driving car, what if it malfunction or something goes wrong, it's quiet diasterous. It's quiet insensitive to rely our confidence on self driving cars as being safe forgetting that there could be errors. We've once bought one or two gadget before and sometimes they malfunction. I believe having a self driving is not still safe, it should also be accompanied with a skilled driver, in case their is an error or mistake. Remember, there is no perfect system.
I smiled when some said it's the manufacturer that would pay for damages incase of accident, that's a No. It's just like buying a washing machine and such individual experienced an electric shock. No manufacturer will pay for such damages. Because they believed you might have operate it in a wrong way.
In places like my country, I believe it will be a huge issue because we have lots of illiterate, who could not read or write but are drivers. Trying to groom them into learning the new techniques about self driving cars might be challenging.
Lastly, The cost of purchasing self driving cars is high and expensive. An average citizen of my country can't have the amount to purchase such kind of car talkless the cost of maintaining a self driving car and that's one of the major reason I won't encourage the use of self driving cars as a mainstream within our society.
