When I was in School, both Primary and Secondary, English Language was my best subject. I don't study for it but I was always passing the exams. I thought I would end up studying English Language in the University because of my love for it, but I didnt.

Every subject is valuable. However if I am to pick one subject to teach in a school, I would teach Computer Science /ICT. Not English. Haha. I am a graduate of Computer Science and have been teaching Computer Science /ICT in a Secondary School for fourteen years and also work with the IT team as a member of the School's management solution. I love teaching the subject and glad I am equipping students to be relevant and skilled in that field. If asked to pick a subject to teach, what else can I teach? I am so used to teaching it and love the art of teaching it.
WHY COMPUTER/ICT
With the rapid development of technology, computer science is becoming increasingly important for everyday life and there is a growing demand for professionals in this field. Teaching computer science can equip students with the skills they need to prepare them for the world of work. Skills such as programming, problem-solving, analytical skills and creative thinking are highly valuable today.
ICT, closely related to Computer Science is a field that covers a range of topics such as computer hardware and software , networking/internet and how to manipulate other ICT devices. ICT also encompasses various aspects of information management, such as data storage and retrieval, processing and analysis.
One of the reasons why ICT is my favorite subject to teach students is because it is a course that is highly relevant. We live in an age where we can never do without technology and ICT plays an important role in enabling us to communicate and manipulate data.
ICT is trending and fastly evolving. More advances in technology has made the subject interesting for people to study. People now specialize in artificial intelligence, machine learning,AI, etc. By studying ICT, students can stay up-to-date with these developments and even contribute to them through research or development work.
Another reason why ICT is a favorite subject for me to teach is that it offers excellent career prospects.With computer knowledge, students can choose areas where they excel and fit well into any organization. Students who study ICT can choose from a wide range of career paths, including software development, cyber security, digital marketing, networking, data analysis, and more. Data analysis is my area of specialty.
A lot of things can be done with data to give insights to businesses and help them make decisions for better productivity. Students can learn how to clean data, data visualization , extraction and transformation.
Every organization needs someone who is computer literate, who knows more than just typing, using micro soft word but someone who can actually tell stories with data and make impact on their organisation, interpreting figures and also store the data in data warehouse / databases for easy retrieval at any time.
Computer Science/ ICT is a fascinating subject that offers numerous benefits to students.It is relevant to modern society and it is very dynamic, you keep upgrading yourself with the trends and it sure has a lot of career prospects, putting you at an age over your counterparts who have no such knowledge. I love teaching ICT. ICT is not just a subject I would love to teach if given the opportunity, ICT is a subject I have been teaching for fourteen years. It has been my favourite subject and remains a subject I love.
The only problem ICT teachers sometimes face is that in some achools the computers are not enough,except the students learn in batches. Some Schools do not even have computers while those who have, their teachers hardly teach them practical aspect of it. I studied Computer Science in the University
but I can say that most of the things I can do with computers are self help. We didn't have much practical classes except when I went for Internship. Thank God there are courses online now that students can also learn from and put themselves in line for the World of Tech. Also there is the problem of electricity, which is not constant in this Country I find myself. All the same, we are getting by. I live the subject and really enjoying teaching it
