The growth of media and social media has brought several changes in our lives. Being too much occupied with vogue is one of them. Fashion has not been new to this world but the current era is marked by the excessive preoccupation with brands and ever changing styles in clothing and accessories. It’s kind of a race the man kind has been in to appear a valuable person. What we are wearing is equated with who we are. Fashion is used to judge the class and social status of an individual.
I have seen people who are so blind in following the current trends and look up-to-date that they adopt the styles and designs which do not suit them at all. While it is important to not look backward, it is more important to look good. In adopting any fashion a care should be taken whether the particular style, colour or product would enhance your personality or would merely make you an object of negative attraction. For instance, one of my relatives passed the remarks on my red lipstick that it was out of fashion while the orange shade she was wearing was “in" those days. Honestly speaking, the shade only marred her beauty. Same is the case with me. That colour doesn’t complement my facial skin tone while the red does. I find no reason to paint my face with something that would decrease my prettiness, no matter how in it is.
With regard to dresses, my rule is the same “Wear what suits you”. Another thing that I take care of is that the dress must not be revealing. Whole body should be covered appropriately. Casually, I wear Qameez/ shalwar, kurti/trousers or some variations in the style like Airline shirts or shirts with wider flare. Sometimes, I also wear frocks. When I was slimmer, short shirts (above knee’s length) looked nice on me.
Since I have put on weight and extra fat 🙈 short shirts don’t suit me any longer. That’s why I avoid wearing them. Now, I wear longer shirts with wider bottom.
For formal occasions like wedding ceremonies and traditional gatherings I have fancy dresses like maxi, lehnga, long upper shirts and frocks.
None of my dresses is very heavy. The fancy dresses are with light embroidery or decorated with laces.
About the footwear, I am not very engrossed about colours. For formal wear I have golden and silver colours sandals with 2 to 3 inch heels. These two colours do match with most of the dresses.
For casual footwear, I have slippers.
Seriously, I don’t care about their designs but the comfort. My feet do not accept every shape. Only a few are comfortable. So I use only the ones that do not hurt my feet, no matter how simple they are.
That’s the story of my fashion taste. How about you?
