I have to read this over and over to be able to come up with a fair judgement devoid of any sentiments.
Equality states that everybody should be given equal opportunity to improve their life and harness their talents.
Now the big question is...
ARE EVERYONE CREATED EQUAL?.
I was tempted to answer this question from a Christian point of view which ofcourse believed that we are all created equal by God irrespective of your colour, race and achievements.
But if i am to be logical i will say that we are never created equal. This explains why some fetus made it to 9 months while some dosen't. Some die at birth while some live up to a hundred years.
Where is the equality in that?.
I was with a senior staff of NNPC last month and his stance in equality was according to his own experience in life. He said that...
Life is what you make of it. It's either you sit down and complain about how unfair life is or you stand up and fight for the life you deserve.
According to him, he was born in a poor background and started hawking things on the streets to help in paying the bills. He engaged in so many side hustles and menial jobs so that he can finish his university education. He went for his masters also and none of these achievements came cheap or easy for him. Today he is one of the top staffs in Nigeria oil and gas sector earning salary in millions. There is never any equality in life, some have it easy while some have to struggle their way to the top.
He said that God created us all and put us on earth to make impact. It's like a football match and you have to play well to score a goal.
WHY SOME HAVE IT EASY.
There are some people that we know that have it easy. Everything going well for them and they never struggle to get the big things we struggle to achieve. This is because someone in their network has already paid that price.
I have a friend that just got a government appointment so easily and she is earning cool money. You may think it came so easily for her but if you hear her story you will come to understand that they paid a price to get to that position. The husband's business collapsed years ago and he went down to the village in shame. There he joined the local politics because he had always love politics. Three years later he got lucky when there was a new governor in the state and he became the chairman of the local government area. That was how doors started opening for them and he was able to secure a palatable job for his wife.
WHAT CAN BE DONE TO MAKE THE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD MORE EQUAL?.
Well i think that government should do well to provide all the amenities and infrastructures necessary to advance human progress and make sure it gets to the grasssroots and not just in the cities. Provide government scholarships to deserving people who couldn't afford tuition fee. Build more well equipped government schools in the rural areas so that the people there can access quality education. This will give people a fair chance of surviving.
The hard truth is that there will always be one country claiming to be superior to another. Even the four powerful countries are still competing who is more superior. In some families, some husbands are still clamoring that they are superior to their wives and subjecting the women to all type of ill treatment in the name of submission. Even in politics it is no exception, some women are yet to be treated fairly as their male counterparts. During the last election held in Nigeria few months ago, some certain tribes were disenfranchised in Lagos state for no just reason.
IS THERE REALLY A PLACE WHERE ONE CAN ENJOY EQUALITY IN THE WORLD?.
I asked this question because a lot of people are migrating to other countries in the quest for greener pastures. They believed that life is better there and they tend to enjoy a certain level of equality and quality of life there.
There they face racism.
It's either the natives are accusing them of taking their jobs or the natives are seeing themselves as LORDS over the immigrants.
There is never a stop to inequality in this life.
We can only preach Love and Humanity. These two will make for peaceful co-existance and allow us to tolerate others as well as share whatever it is that we are privileged to have with our neighours because whether you like it or not there will always be poor people around us even if you give everyone equal chance of survival
