In Nigeria which is my country, when you finish your tertiary education before te age of 30, there is what we call National Youth Service Corps ( NYSC) that runs for a year which all graduate must go through.
Graduates can be posted to geographical zones way different or far from where they schooled. Some can be lucky to have their state of choice or by connections.
It was time for mine and I was posted to a faraway land, I was not happy though. I even tried to work my way back to somewhere I feel could be more comfortable for me but all to no avail. I was sad ehhn but I had no choice than to just finish a whole one year there.
Finally, I finished or should I say passed out. Time to go back home.
It takes two days from this state to my home state, what a hell of a journey. Bad roads here and there. So I decided to split my journey o, well I have no choice it has to be splitted.
The journey that was supposed to take me two days eventually turned three days. That will be a story for another day. Oh wait! I think Inhale shared it in one of my previous post. You can check it out and I wouldn't mind if you can still upvote it. Thank you
I did not travel back home alone, we were three and my thoughts were if we get to the first stop, we will look around for an hotel then pass the night there. Getting to the first stop, the park was so big, unlike the regular kind of park I was used to. Then my friends started contemplating on passing the night at the pack.
This was not our plan, I screamed. Why the sudden change of plan? They said the park was comfortable so why not.The had lots of people in it truly with lots of open sheds and ticket rooms with cushioned chairs. But I still don't feel comfortable sleeping there.
To cut long story short, a good samaritan heard our argument. We were in our khakis. So he asked if we were stranded and needed a place to stay,I said yes without hesitating because I do not like the idea of staying in the park. He then offered to house us in an hostel accommodation in the University of that state free of charge, since students were not really in session at that moment.
We reasoned well among ourselves about the safety and all before we concluded to follow him. I was praying inside me sha cos you cannot trust people like that. We got there and it was so comfortable and nice. He even offered to serve us food. Like I couldn't believe it tho. We ate and rested.
The next day, got ready, thanked him for his kindness and set forth on our journey.
Lesson: They are still good people in this world 😄 and any opportunity you have to assist your fellow man, make use of it. It can make someone's life. I was indeed so grateful to this person and I pray for him everyday.
